Tim Robbins
Tim Robbins, actor and director (“The Shawshank Redemption,” Mystic River,” Top Gun”) has condemned anyone who compares the assassination of Trump with his 1992 satirical movie “Bob Roberts.” The film is about a conservative politician running for Senate who’s also shot.
Let’s not confuse anyone who draws a comparison between my movie Bob Roberts and Trump’s attempted assassination. Yesterday’s events were a real assassination attempt against a presidential candidate. Denying the assassination was real is a sign of a truly deranged mind. Yesterday, a human was shot. Yesterday, another human being was killed. You may not agree with them politically, but they are still human beings. Stop your hatred for these people. These people are American citizens. This collective hatred is consuming our humanity and killing our souls,” he wrote in a letter to X.
To anyone drawing a parallel between my film Bob Roberts and the attempted assassination of Trump, let’s be clear. What happened yesterday was a real attempt on a presidential candidate’s life.
Those that are denying the assassination attempt was real are truly in a deranged…— Tim Robbins (@TimRobbins1) July 14, 2024
