The Secret Service has claimed that Trump and Harris already enjoy the highest level of security.
“President Biden has made it clear that he is seeking the highest level of protection for former President Trump and Vice-President Harris. Secret Service assets and protection level were increased yesterday,” said Ronald Rowe.
While the military is responsible for protecting the president, the Secret Service teams that are securing presidential candidates are supplemented by local law enforcement.
Trump receives the same intelligence and drone teams that other presidents do. Trump still travels with personnel from the Department of Defense, or the National Security Council.
The debate is whether the issue is manpower or funding.
We need to know what’s happening. Johnson stated that this should never happen again.
If this is the highest level of security, Americans have reason for concern. The blame game and the excuses only make us look foolish and weak. The lives of presidential candidates aren’t usually threatened like this (except, of course, for the tragedy of then-Democratic nominee Robert F. Kennedy, who was gunned down in 1968). This should be a simple issue to solve, and it needs to be solved now.
