Congressman’s Affair Scandal Takes a Twist—Reporter Caught in the Crossfire

Multiple outlets reported that the wife of Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.) has accused him of having an affair.

Green, the chair of the Homeland Security Committee, originally planned to retire in 2019 after taking office earlier this year but changed his decision a few weeks later. According to court records, Green divorced his wife Camilla Green by the end of August.

The Nashville Banner was the first to report Camilla’s allegations, which were made in a letter sent to Congress members. She claimed that he had an affair with a woman 32 years old he met in Washington after being corrupted.

She wrote, “He fell in love with her so much that he wanted her to marry him and start a family.” “Satan rewrote our marriage in his head.”

Mark’s reelection campaigns told the Banner and Politico that “this is a very difficult time for me and my family, and we are going through divorce proceedings.” “This is a very private matter and I request privacy ….I’ll continue to serve the district with everything I have, just as I did for the past five years.”

Rep’s wife mistakenly identifies mistresses as journalists, resulting in legal threats

Camilla’s text group message sent on September 11 misidentified Mark’s mistress, a reporter at Axios. The news outlet issued a threat of legal action.

Axios legal counsel wrote to Camilla in a letter that she should “set the record right” by texting the group once more or the company could “take further action.”

Camilla said to Politico: “I would like to correct the record because I misidentified a person in that message. I regret saying that my husband never had any relationship with an Axios reporter.

Mark Green, a Republican who had planned to retire in 2018, was forced by Trump to retire.

Mark Green, a Republican who also serves on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs announced his decision to not run for reelection in mid-February.

He stated in a press release, “Our country and our Congress are broken beyond repair.” “I’ve come to realize that our fight does not take place in Washington. It takes place with Washington.”

He reversed his decision a few weeks later.

Green stated in a February statement that “while I desired to leave Congress by the end of this calendar year, I’ve received countless phone calls from constituents and colleagues as well as President Trump asking me to reconsider.”

Green resigned from the running to become Army Secretary under Trump’s administration in 2017 after criticism of his comments about gays and lesbians as well as Muslims and other groups.

In the upcoming election, Green is running against former Nashville mayor Democrat Megan Barry for the 7th district, covering Clarksville and part of Nashville.
