Two hidden devices, made of fireworks, were discovered at the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa casino in Florida. The FBI and Seminole Police investigated and evacuated the casino twice while a bomb squad dealt with the devices.
Seminole Police Department reported that a “crude device concealed with fireworks components” had been discovered in the casino just before midnight on Sunday and was quickly deactivated by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Disposal Team.
The device was found in a bathroom adjacent to the casino. A part of the building had to be evacuated immediately.
After the device had been deactivated, and then removed, the casino reopened around 3 am on Monday.
The second device was found in a men’s bathroom in the upper mezzanine of the casino on Monday shortly after noon.
During the review and investigation of surveillance videos from casinos, a second device was found.
With the help of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Disposal Team and the second device, all areas in the casino were reopened.
FBI Tampa and Seminole Hard Rock Tampa both declined to comment.
