Matt Gaetz, former Florida Representative, withdrew his name from consideration to become Attorney General. He said that he was supported, but didn’t wish to distract from President-elect Donald Trump’s agenda.
Yesterday I had great meetings with Senators. I am grateful for their thoughtful feedback and the tremendous support from so many. Although the momentum was high, it was clear that my confirmation unfairly became a distraction from the crucial work of the Trump/Vance Transition. It is not worth the time wasted on a protracted Washington dispute. I will therefore withdraw my name from consideration for Attorney General. Trump’s DOJ has to be ready and in place on day one.
I am committed to seeing that Donald J. Trump becomes the most successful president in history. I am honored to be nominated by President Trump to lead the Department of Justice. I know he’ll save America.
I don’t have to read any other responses to the withdrawal in order to know that Sen. John Fetterman’s (D-PA), is the most original. Fetterman called Gaetz’s nominee a “God-tier troll.”
When reporters asked about his withdrawal, Fetterman didn’t hesitate to answer. He responded with a humorous response that seemed to be an implied rebuke of the way the media/people from the left get upset about Trump’s appointments.
Warning: Graphic language
“Holy s***!” Fetterman exclaimed. “I didn’t expect that!”
“I mean, yes, he was the ultimate troll. And people have the opportunity, they can freak out over things and respond. And if you want to do that, you don’t have to… you better pace yourself, though. ’cause it’s not even Thanksgiving.”
Fetterman told them that they did not have to act like the “world is about to spin off its axis” as it is now.
He then pulled out his troll to see if anyone would listen, saying that he had heard Trump was planning to “issue new silver dollars to commemorate this, so I believe that’s going be the next (news) cycle.”
He’s still a liberal, even though he isn’t a conservative.
Fetterman is certainly a more logical person than many other Democrats, even though he was asked a lot about his background when he first arrived. He can sometimes see when the left/media is being absurd and is not afraid to call it out. This is a unique thing in the current Democratic climate, where the party marches off the cliff with all sorts of ridiculous ideas that have been rejected by the American people.
