Biden’s Desperate Bid to ‘Trump-Proof’ His Legacy Is Set to Crumble

While President Joe Biden tries to “Trump proof” his legacy during the last weeks of his term, it is clear that his attempts to solidify a list of alleged achievements will fail. Biden’s tenure in office is unlikely to be remembered for its monumental impact. Instead, it will be remembered as a series of economic missteps and a disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, along with a questionable pardon of Hunter. In Democrat politics, he’ll be remembered as a weak candidate who was ousted by his party from his reelection bid.

Biden is trying desperately to secure his legislative agenda through a series of last-minute spending and regulatory decisions. He’s trying to stabilize a ship that has already begun to sink under the weight of his disastrous policies. Biden currently throws taxpayer dollars into green-energy projects in red states. He hopes that the people who will benefit from these jobs will force Republicans to maintain the projects when President-elect Donald Trump assumes office.

It’s a futile effort to salvage his failing record in economics. Biden’s “economic recovery,” heralded as a victory by his administration, has been a catastrophe for ordinary Americans. Biden was responsible for a spike in inflation, soaring energy prices, and wages that failed to keep up with the rising costs. These last-ditch attempts are the latest version of the White House’s “Bidenomics”, always sounding tongue-in-cheek despite the best efforts to influence public perception. The administration’s attempts to disguise the economic damage caused by its failures through a catchy name failed.

Biden does not only give money to pet projects in the US, but he also supports war efforts in Ukraine. This month, Secretary Antony Blinken announced an additional $725 in aid for Ukraine. The money includes counter-drones, extra missiles to the MLRS rocket system and HIMARS rocket system, and antipersonnel mines. The Biden administration is increasing war funding while the incoming Trump has called for a ceasefire immediately.

Trump shared the following on TruthSocial after a meeting he had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron, during his visit to Paris to attend the reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral:

Negotiations should immediately begin and a ceasefire should be declared. Some too many people have lost their lives, too many families that have been destroyed. If this continues, it could turn into something far more serious and worse. I am familiar with Vladimir. It is time for him to act. China can help. The world is waiting for you!

Biden also wants to fill the judiciary in his last acts of office with progressive judges. Since mid-November 2016, 16 federal judges have been confirmed, bringing the total of his lifetime appointments to 229. This number is still short of the 234 federal judge appointments made by Trump in his first term.

Biden’s efforts to reshape the judiciary will likely fail thanks to the JUDGES act, which was passed by the House with strong bipartisan backing this week, despite his veto threats. The bill would create 66 new judicial positions, staggered across three presidential terms to deal with a growing backlog. If passed under a Trump-led Republican trifecta government, this bill would give Trump additional vacancies to be filled and increase his influence over the judiciary.

Biden cannot scramble a legacy when most Americans do not think he is capable of scrambling an egg. Biden’s desperate attempts to “Trump proof” his legacy are as ineffective and futile as his policies.
