Two of the most divisive, extreme members of the U.S. House of Representatives–Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)–are on different sides of the fence on a key issue, according to a report from Punchbowl News.

 

AOC thinks that she is ready for more and wants to lead the Oversight Committee of the new Congress. Pelosi, however, has different ideas. They have had a fraught but outwardly cordial relationship for a long time, and you can imagine Nance wasn’t too happy when the younger representative with her loud opinions and large media following waltzed into Congress in 2018.

 

You’ll know what these situations are like if you ever attended high school.

 

Pelosi is said by some to be supporting a different horse. One who has served for a lot longer than AOC.

 

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D.Y.), who is trying to become the leading Democrat in the House Oversight Committee, faces strong opposition – from House Speaker Emerita Pelosi (D.Calif.).

 

Why it matters: Senior Democrats claim that even though Ocasio-Cortez is considered the favorite to replace Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., the race is still open.

 

The fight is taking place as septuagenarian members of the committee are fighting or giving way to younger challengers.

 

One senior House Democrat said to Axios that “many members are worried about the precedent [these races] are setting.”

Pelosi actively urged House members to vote for Connolly who is 74 years old and has served the House since 2009.

 

What we hear: Pelosi is urging her colleagues to support Connolly instead of Ocasio Cortez. This, according to two House Democrats who have direct knowledge about the outreach.

 

Connolly, 74, and Ocasio-Cortez, 35, are facing off to replace current Oversight Committee ranking member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.).

 

Punchbowl News reported Pelosi’s support for Connolly first. A spokesperson for Pelosi did not comment on Axios.

 

It’s difficult to support either Nancy Pelosi or AOC. Both have a history of despicable behavior.

 

 

 

Pelosi or Connolly, whoever is elected to the next Congress will have their side in the majority. The winner of the midterms if Dems regain the House would become the Oversight Committee’s ranking member, which would be a very bad thing.

 

AOC running the show and turning that committee into a leftist insanity zone is not a thought that makes one smile.
