Tim Walz on Election Defeat: ‘How Did We Lose to a Billionaire?’

Tim Walz failed Democrat Vice-Presidential Candidate, said he thought it was a “flex” to be the “least wealthy person” to ever be on the ticket. He asked, “How in the hell did we ever lose to a billionaire?”

In a Thursday interview with Minnesota Public Radio, the Governor of Minnesota marveled at the fact that Americans had once again selected Donald Trump as their president.

Walz, running-mate to Vice President Kamala Harris said: “I thought it was a joke when I read in the Wall Street Journal that I might have been the lowest income person to ever run for vice president. ”

Later, he asked: “How in the world did we lose to a billionaire venture capitalist and a county prosecutor when we argued for a high school teacher and a county prosecutor? ”

Going on to explain how he thought he related to middle-class voters, Walz said, “And I thought that would be something people say, ‘Well, this guy knows where we’re coming from. He’s had to pay his bills and still does.’”

Walz says that Harris’s campaign’s failure to reach middle-class voters is keeping him awake at night.

In the interview, he said, “I’ve spent my whole career focusing on middle-class families… The Democrats seemed to have a lot of good ideas. ”

The governor stated, “I believe that I still do but in this election, it appears that not a majority believed that. They picked a billionaire with a track record of not paying employees and who has spoken about not paying overtime. Someone who wants the Affordable Care Act to be removed. ”

Walz concluded that Democrats did not do a “good enough job” at securing those voters.

“So, I come back to the conclusion, is we did not do a good enough job — we as a Democratic Party and we as a ticket — did not do a good enough job of showing them that we understand where they’re coming from,” he reflected.
