Trump Shuts Down Reporter’s Question with Sharp Comeback at Press Conference

Joe Biden technically occupies the White House until January 20. He is supposedly “in control.”

 

Donald Trump already appears to be taking the reins of his presidency.

 

Trump held a presser on Monday where he answered several questions and outlined the aspects of a “golden age”, which he promised to usher in with his policies. He has already announced a deal that sounds great with SoftBank for more investment to be made in the country, which would create thousands of jobs.

 

This press conference was a welcome change from Biden’s inability to handle press conferences.

 

Here was Trump, in full control and solid. When a reporter asked him a stupid question, Trump saw the trap or inherent problem in the question. He wasn’t scared to call out the reporter on it when the reporter was asking if he would do preemptive attacks on Iran.

 

 

Why would I say such a thing? Trump said. “Can you imagine saying yes or no?” Some reporters laughed at him, a sign that he had the right. He said that any answer he gave to the question was wrong and people would find it “strange.” Is this a serious query? “How could I answer such a question?” Why would he give Iran such a warning? He would never comment on an imminent military action.

 

You can teach a reporter not to ask silly questions again by pointing out their stupidity. Trump, however, was not fooled and he knew that they would make a soundbite of it. He did not personally attack the reporter, but he took the question out of context.

 

Imagine Kamala Harris being able to answer a question like that. You’d get a word salad, and probably at least three cackles if she even tried. Joe Biden would probably end up blaming Israel, or messing up the question in some other way if he got this kind of a question. The media would probably not ask, as it would be too challenging for the two.

 

This is what it feels like to finally have a leader who can command, and not just an empty chair.

 

It was fascinating that the reporters weren’t hostile. This honeymoon could be temporary. They’re used to never getting answers from the Biden Team, so they were surprised when someone finally responded to their questions and didn’t give canned answers.

 

It will be great to have someone in charge who is competent again.
