Cybertruck Blast: New Clues Uncover Possible Motive

The act of blowing up the Cybertruck by a man in front of a Trump Hotel in New Orleans on Wednesday was immediately linked to a terrorist incident that had occurred just hours earlier. No one could ignore the political implications of a vehicle produced by Elon Musk and involving property owned by Donald Trump.

Even though law enforcement said a day after that there was no “definitive connection” between the two incidents, it still left many questions about what happened in Las Vegas. Did the man who was in the truck kill himself? Why did the members of special forces make a bomb so badly that it would do real damage? What could make someone with a seemingly happy family suddenly suicidal? Was there an emotional trigger?

Now we may have the answer to those questions. The New York Post reported that Matthew Livelsberger’s wife left him on the day following Christmas due to accusations of infidelity. He started his cross-country trip to Las Vegas in the Cybertruck he rented.

According to law enforcement sources, the wife of the Army Soldier who blew up the Tesla Cybertruck outside Trump International Hotel Las Vegas on Wednesday had a breakup six days before the soldier killed himself in the vehicle.

Two sources familiar with The Post’s investigation said that Matthew Livelsberger (37), left his Colorado Springs house the day after Christmas, following an argument with his wife over apparent infidelity.

Sources said that his wife, who has a daughter with Livelsberger, told him she knew he was cheating.

This gives his family a new perspective. We had only seen smiling pictures of his wife before this report. It was reasonable to assume that they were still married. If she left him because of infidelity, then that could be a major reason for his suicidal thoughts.

It would also explain why someone with Livelsberger’s expertise on weapons and explosives would stuff some fireworks and gas canisters in the back of a steel-bodied truck and call it a day. If you assume he was trying to kill other people, that seems like a pretty big mistake. If you make the counter-assumption that he wasn’t trying to kill other people, though, then it all starts to make a lot more sense. Authorities are even considering that he chose a Cybertruck specifically because it would limit any collateral damage.

Livelsberger’s uncle also claims that, despite Livelsberger’s wife’s reported anti-Trump feelings, Livelsberger strongly supported the incoming President.

The Independent reported that his uncle Dean Livelsberger (an Air Force veteran himself) said the soldier was deployed to Afghanistan between 2017 and 2018. He was also known for his patriotism.

The uncle was adamant: “He loved Trump and he has always been a very patriotic American, a soldier who loves his country.”

Many people will still have suspicions that this story is not complete. This latest fact pattern makes some sense.

After returning home on leave of absence from the U.S. Army, a soldier who has served multiple combat tours in Germany and is likely to be under mental stress finds that his wife is leaving him. This pushes him to the brink, and he commits suicide in a way that grabs the world’s attention. He makes a “bomb”, which isn’t much of one, and decides to set it off in a place where no other people will be hurt or killed.

It all seems to be adding up. There could be more to this story. For now, however, we have an alternative theory that is plausible and makes sense. It also explains many of the previous discrepancies.
