Kristi Noem Takes Oath as DHS Secretary in Unusual Supreme Court Justice’s Home Ceremony

You don’t see a newly confirmed Cabinet Secretary take their oath at the home of the Supreme Court Justice every day.

It was at Justice Clarence Thomas’ house that former South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, the new Secretary of Homeland Security for the Department of Homeland Security, was sworn in as such.

Thomas’ pipes are similar to those of the late James Earl Jones. Impressive.

What the hell were they doing in Thomas’ house? You might be curious. It turns out that it was due to an unspecified conflict in scheduling. The show must continue despite the lack of explanation.

South Dakota Gov. Clarence Thomas, Supreme Court Justice, swore in Kristi Noem as Department of Homeland Security Secretary at his residence on Saturday after a scheduling mishap earlier in the day.

The ceremony, originally scheduled to take place at 3 pm in the Indian Treaty Room in the Navy Department Wing in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, Washington, D.C., has been postponed several times.

She thanked Trump earlier that day for the chance:

Noem is the latest Trump Cabinet official to be confirmed. She joins Marco Rubio as Secretary of State, Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary, John Ratcliffe as CIA Director, and, hopefully, Pam Bondi will also be confirmed, depending on how the vote goes.

Noem thought it an honor to swear in Thomas’ home.

She wrote: “It’s an honor to have been sworn in at the United States Department of Homeland Security.” In a post on social media. It was even more meaningful because I was sworn in at Clarence Thomas’ home by the Supreme Court Justice. “Thank you for your trust, President [Donald] Trump. I will do my best to keep America safe.”

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry posted photos of the event just before 6 p.m. on X. He expressed confidence that Noem would be able to fill the role.

Landry wrote, “Sharon and myself were honored to take part in the swearing-in ceremony for Homeland Secretary @KristiNoem.” “America will become stronger and safer because of the leadership of @realDonaldTrump and President Donald Trump.” “And once again, Americans will be placed FIRST!”

Trump’s cabinet is mostly shaping up as he had envisioned it, despite the withdrawal by former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz from consideration for attorney general, and the razor-thin margin of victory Hegseth won, there are still some tough battles to be fought, mainly for Tulsi Gabrielbard, Trump’s nominee for director of national intelligence, and Kash Patel, Trump’s choice to lead the FBI.

The proverb says, “May you have a life full of interesting events.” It’s pretty safe to say that we do.
