The Village People will perform renditions of Trump rally favorites such as “Macho Man” and “Y.M.C.A.” in Washington, D.C., as part of the festivities surrounding President-elect Trump’s inauguration.
A spokesperson for Trump’s inaugural party said that the disco group would perform at Trump’s “victory rally” Sunday at Capital One Arena in Washington and at the Liberty Inaugural ball, one of three galas taking place Jan. 20 in conjunction with Trump’s inauguration.
Charlie Kirk, a conservative journalist and close Trump supporter, had previously announced that the group would appear at an event held by his organization, Turning Point USA.
The speakers played “Macho Man”, “Y.M.C.A.” and other songs at Trump’s 2020 and 2024 rallies. In 2024, Trump’s dancing along to the “Y.M.C.A.” song became a viral phenomenon. Athletes and politicians began imitating his moves.
