Elon Musk, senior advisor to President Donald Trump and the driving force behind the Department of Government Efficiency, revealed the “chainsaw of bureaucracy” at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C., last Thursday.
Argentine President Javier Milei presented Musk with the chainsaw after his on-stage interview with Newsmax’s Rob Schmitt.
Musk yelled at the crowd, “This is a chainsaw for bureaucracy.”
Musk had previously explained to Schmitt (host of “Rob Schmitt Tonight”) how easy it was to reduce waste within the federal government, given its size.
When people ask me what is the most surprising experience I have had in Washington D.C., I reply: “What’s been the most shocking thing you’ve experienced?” “Well, I think the most shocking thing is how much money is spent and the ease of saving billions, even in just an hour, when you add competence and care where they were absent.” Musk said, “It’s crazy.”
He said Trump “supports” the idea of dividend checks for DOGE, which was proposed by Azoria’s CEO and cofounder James Fishback. Musk said to Fishback that he’d “check with President Trump.”
“It’s money that’s taken away from things that are destructive to the country and from organizations that hate you to you. That’s awesome. That’s glorious. That’s like the best, the spoils of battle,” Musk told Schmitt on Thursday.
“I spoke to the President, he supports that. It sounds as if you already know we will do that. As we find savings, this will translate directly into tax reductions,” he said.
Musk criticized Democrats for their criticisms about cutting waste and fraud.
It proves they have no empathy for the hard-working taxpayers who pay taxes. And then they say, ‘Oh, $1 million doesn’t matter.’ And I’m like, I think it matters a lot to people, you know? What are you talking about?”
