Feds Revoke Approval for NYC’s Congestion Pricing – What’s Next?

The Trump administration announced Wednesday that it will revoke approval of New York City’s congestion pricing program, which is intended to reduce traffic while raising billions for upgrading New York’s subway and bus system.

Sean Duffy, Transportation Secretary, said that the move would stop the program which began on January 5.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul said earlier that the money would underpin $15 billion in debt financing for mass transit capital improvements. Kathy Hochul had said that the money would be used to finance $15 billion of debt for capital improvements in mass transit. The program was approved during the last months of Joe Biden’s presidency.
