Hochul Weighs Firing NYC Mayor Adams in Growing Political Tension

In recent weeks, New York City Mayor Eric Adams became aware of the enormous cost that illegal immigration has imposed on New York taxpayers. He has been working with Trump’s administration to restore some semblance to sanity in the Big Apple. This includes not spending millions of dollars to house illegal immigrants in luxury hotels.

Hizzoner has been under a lot more pressure from his party.

New York Comptroller Brad Lander demanded first that Mayor Adams present a contingency plan for the running of the city, just in case.

The letter of demand states:

My office was informed today that four Depute Mayors of the City, including First Deputy Maria TorresSpringer, have resigned and that others have expressed their intention to resign. The departures of these four Depute Mayors, including First Deputy Mayor Maria Torres-Springer, would create a leadership vacuum unprecedented at the highest levels of the City government.

These resignations are in response to the deeply troubling actions of the U.S. Justice Department. They asked the U.S. District Court for the dismissal of the indictments, as long as they comply with the White House’s policy on immigration and criminal justice, which calls into question your capacity to fulfill your duties under the City Charter to New Yorkers.

Consider that for a minute. Apart from the implied “Nice job you’ve done, Mr. Adams. It would be a shame if something happened to it. Anyone with the mental power to pound sand will see that Mayor Adams, by working with Homeland Security and Immigration & Customs Enforcement, is fulfilling the primary purpose not only of his office, but of every elected, appointed, or hired government worker anywhere – that is, to protect the property and liberty of citizens. Mayor Adams, who is a rare Democrat in New York, sees the problem of illegal immigrants as they flood into the city. This includes dangerous criminals and members of gangs. It is possible that the charges were dropped as a retaliation for him opposing Biden’s administration on illegal immigration. Mayor Adams says that is what happened, and given Biden’s record, it’s not surprising.

This is all because he wants to ease the financial and criminal burden that unchecked immigration from illegal countries and policies of “sanctuary cities” have put on the residents of New York.

Wait! There’s more! Kathy Hochul is the Governor of New York and she’s considering removing Mayor Adams.

This post is entitled:

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said that she would meet with leaders of the city and indicated she could remove New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Governor Hochul, in other words, is considering the removal of the democratically-elected mayor of not only the biggest city in her State but also a metropolis that was once one the greatest cities in the World. She may remove him against the will and wishes of the voters because she disagrees with his policy – Mayor Adams supports the enforcement of immigration laws, while Governor Hochul does not. The governor and the likely deputy mayors who resigned out of a snit are not the ones who suffer the effects of an influx of illegal immigrants.

Are these people completely crazy?

The next New York mayoral elections will be held in November. Mayor Adams is accountable to the citizens of New York. If they want him removed from office, they will vote him out. Mayor Adams is still seeking to hold his position, even though he has been unrepentant. This is how it should work. This grandstanding is corrupt, and threatening to remove an elected mayor because of a disagreement on policy is against everything that the United States should stand for.

It seems that national Democrats are operating in this way these days.
