JD Vance Joins East Palestine for 2-Year Derailment Anniversary

After the train wreck in East Palestine, Ohio on February 20, 2023, it took Joe Biden more than a year before he could make his way there. If I didn’t miss it, it appears that former Vice President Kamala Harris never made it to East Palestine, Ohio.

On Monday, to mark the anniversary of the disaster that occurred two years ago, Vice President JDVance, newly confirmed EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, and Senators Bernie Moreno(R)and Jon Husted(R) visited the community.

Vance made a speech to the crowd, promising them that East Palestine would not be forgotten.

“The President loves this community – of course, he visited — and Trump wanted to send a message saying that this community would not be forgotten and will not be left behind. We are committed for the long haul here in East Palestine.”

“What does that mean? It means, first and foremost, the environmental cleanup must be completed. It’s unfortunate and disappointing that it wasn’t handled by the previous administration, but I assure you that we will get it done under this administration. With the strong leadership of our new EPA Administrator, Lee Zeldin, who stands behind me, we will see this cleanup through to the finish.”

“I also believe that part of it means the long-term development of this community. We know that many local businesses and local people suffered a great deal when the train disaster occurred a few years ago. We are not only committed to completing the environmental cleanup but also hope that East Palestine will rebuild better and stronger than before the disaster occurred.”

Vance’s version of “build better” is a bit more promising for some reason than Biden’s. We can only hope that East Palestine’s people will soon be able to confirm this. They’ve been waiting long enough.
