How many people can remember the last time the President of the United States called an audible, which was a press conference impromptu? That’s exactly what happened Tuesday afternoon. Then, President Trump did something even more cool. In a moment, I’ll explain.
Trump’s remarks focused primarily on the negotiations team led by Secretary Marco Rubio that was seeking to broker a deal between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.
The Q&A took a different turn when a reporter attempted to pit Elon Musk, director of DOGE, against President Trump:
REPORTER: The White House stated in a court document that Elon Musk was not an employee of DOGE and had no authority to make decisions. What is this role?
After telling staffers that he considered Musk “a patriot”, whatever label you chose to call him, the president began pulling out notes. He had asked them for the notes “just in case”.

He admitted that Ukraine is “a bigger deal” because of the number of lives lost during the war against Russia. The coolest part was when he explained to the reporters what Elon Musk had been up to.
Of course, over the years, conservatives have become used to seeing the release of the yearly reports on governmental waste and abuse of the U.S. Treasury, from former South Carolina senator, Jim DeMint and, in more recent years, people like Senator Rand Paul (R-KY)…but this is the President of the United States we’re talking about–reading out the receipts, essentially.
Donald Trump, in this moment, is us all. His voice is filled with frustration as he lists the waste, fraud, and abuse that DOGE found during the first month of the Trump administration.
Watch:
Trump said at the end of the list, “As President I could read this all day long, I could go on all day long, and you’ll see hundreds of billions of dollars [in fraud],” adding, “We have a very corrupt country…and it’s a sad thing to say. But we’re figuring it out.”
