Democrat Rep. Stansbury Explodes in Heated Sanctuary Cities Hearing

During a hearing of the House Oversight Committee on Sanctuary Cities, Democrat Rep. Melanie Stansbury from New Mexico launched into a cursing-filled tirade at the Trump Administration as well as Republicans. She called the hearing “absolute s—t”.

Testifying at the hearing were mayors Eric Adams of New York City, Michelle Wu of Boston, Brandon Johnson of Chicago, and Mike Johnston of Denver, all of whom are Democrats and lead cities with migrant “sanctuary” policies.

The laws prohibit or restrict law enforcement agencies from working with federal authorities to deport criminally charged illegal immigrants.

Stansbury, a representative of a heavily blue border state, defended the sanctuary mayors and criticized Republicans for their alleged attempt to intimidate elected local officials.

“I always think that we should sage this room after these hearings because we hear a lot of crazy stuff in here,” she began. “Our mayors are sitting here, enduring this ridiculous, ridiculous hearing as they’ve been threatened in front of the American people.”

She continued, “I reject the basic premise of this meeting. Because this whole effort is all about intimidating local and state officials, attacking law-abiding immigrant families, and spending millions in taxpayer money both within the Administration and Congress on ads that are smoke and mirrors and trying to claim that Donald Trump somehow has secured America’s borders.

She yelled, “It’s absolute and total bullsh–t!” They are terrorizing immigrants’ families and not making America safe again. That is exactly what they’re doing.”

Stansbury said that Donald Trump had “failed” to do the basic thing he promised to do when he became president, which was pass immigration reform.

Throwing up her hands and looking around the room, Stansbury said: “Here we are, Donald Trump, where’s your immigration bill? Oh wait, you don’t have one, that’s right. Because none of this is actually about making America safer.”

Stansbury was also in the spotlight on Tuesday evening when she stood near the House Floor shortly before Trump delivered his joint Address to Congress. She held a sign that read: “This is not normal.”
