Tulsi Gabrield, Director of National Intelligence, said on Friday that, among other people, she had revoked the security clearances of former President Joe Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris.
Gabbard announced the revocations via a message to X.
The move comes one week after Donald Trump issued a memo rescinding clearances for many people. This included former Secretary of States Antony Blinken, former Deputy Attorney-General Lisa Monaco, and any other members of Joe Biden’s family.
Several of the people named in the memo were also central figures in investigations and prosecutions against Trump, both during and after Trump’s first term. Letitia James, the New York Attorney General, and Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney, were both involved in criminal and civil cases against former President Trump in New York.
Biden’s former administration included Blinken and Jake Sullivan, both of whom were senior officials.
Trump’s memo to the heads of executive departments and agencies stated: “I have determined it is not in the national interest that the following individuals access classified information.” He then listed all the affected individuals.
