On Thursday, a majority of senators confirmed Dr. Mehmet OZ, the celebrity doctor nominated by Donald Trump to oversee the government health insurance programs Medicare & Medicaid.

As of the time of publication, voting was still in progress.

Oz, who has never held a public office before, will be the administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The agency, which has an annual budget of $2.6 trillion, oversees more than half of Americans’ health insurance.
