John Ullyot wrote on Sunday an opinion piece for Politico in which he said that “more bombshell stories” are “coming” during this week despite “a month of chaos” at the Department of Defense.
Ullyot, who was “sidelined” by The New York Post in March after removing a DOD site on MLB legend Jackie Robinson, resigned on Wednesday. He wrote about the “flashpoints” of internal turmoil at the Pentagon in the Politico piece, citing the latest example as Defense Secretary. Pete Hegseth fired “three of his most loyal staffers, including Colin Carroll and Darin Selnick, the deputy chief of staff.”
Reports claim that the information leaked included plans for the Panama Canal as well as naval movements in the Red Sea. The leaks also revealed Elon Musk’s visit to the Pentagon in late March and the pause in the intelligence sharing with Ukraine.
Ullyot stated, “In the wake of the incident, the Defense Department workers working for Hegseth tried to smear anonymously these aides in the media by claiming they were fired for leaking data as part of an investigation ordered earlier that month. “
Ullyot went on to add that on “Sunday night, The New York Times reported” on another story about the Signal scandal, this time referring to Hegseth sharing details about a strike on Yemen to his brother and wife Jennifer, a former Fox News producer, who is not employed at the defense agency.
Ullyot stated, “Key Pentagon journalists privately told sources that there would be more explosive stories this week.”
Anna Kelly, White House deputy spokeswoman, responded to the Signal scandal by saying: “Nothing will change, no matter how many times legacy media tries to resurrect the non-story. No classified data was ever shared. Recent ‘leakers’, who were fired for lying to feed their egos or undermine President Obama’s agenda, continue to lie. But the administration will hold them accountable.”
