Trump Affirms DOGE’s Continuity Post-Musk Departure

Donald Trump recently told reporters on Air Force One that the Department of Government Efficiency will continue its mission after Elon Musk leaves.

Trump told the Washington Examiner, “Elon would remain in Washington for some time before returning to his business full-time.”

According to the executive order Trump signed on his very first day as President, DOGE will continue operating until July 4, 2026.

The President stated that DOGE will continue to work after Musk’s exit, but he also stressed his desire for the tech mogul to “stay as long as possible” as a member of the advisory panel.

Trump said, “There will be a time where he has to leave. When he leaves, the secretaries will take over, and DOGE will still be active. “

In an appearance on Fox & Friends last week, Vice President J.D. Vance highlighted Musk’s specialized role in the administration and pushed back against claims that his tenure was almost up.

“Elon came in, and we said, we need you to make government more efficient, we need you to shrink the incredible, vast bureaucracy that thwarts the will of the American people and also costs way too much money, and we said that’s going to take about six months,” Vance said. “The work of DOGE is not even close to done. The work of Elon is not even close to done.”

Vance said that Musk would continue to serve as an advisor within the Trump Administration after his work with DOGE has been completed.

Vance said, “Elon will always have a place as an advisor in the Trump administration after his work at DOGE is complete.”

Politico claimed that Musk would hand over the DOGE reins to focus on his own business. However, the White House has denied this report.

Karoline Lavitt, White House press secretary, told X on Monday that “This scoop is garbage.” Elon Musk and Donald Trump have publicly announced that Elon would leave public service following his work at DOGE is complete.

Reports claim that the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk, was appointed as an employee of the government in January. His term was reportedly for 130 days, which would make his time end in early June.
