Musk Declares He’s Back to Working 24/7 at His Companies

Elon Musk’s social media platform X has been largely restored following an outage that affected tens of thousands of American users this past Saturday, as per information from the outage tracking website Downdetector.com. In the wake of this development, Musk has expressed his intent to return to a 24/7 working schedule at his companies.

At the height of the outage, more than 25,800 instances of users reporting issues were recorded around 8:51 a.m. ET. According to Downdetector, this figure has since decreased to less than 500 as of 11:26 a.m. ET. The platform’s difficulties were not limited to the United States, as users in Germany, Spain, France, India, Canada, Australia, and Britain also reported difficulties during the outage.

Musk stated on X, “Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms. I must be super focused on X/xAI and Tesla (plus Starship launch next week), as we have critical technologies rolling out.”

This development follows earlier reports that Musk, who backed U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign and other Republicans to the tune of nearly $300 million last year, has signaled his intent to significantly cut his political spending. This raises important questions about a shift in focus back to his business operations, a move that appears to be in response to growing investor concerns.

Musk’s political affiliations have not been without consequence, sparking waves of protests against Tesla in the United States and Europe. This resulted in a decline in sales, with Tesla reporting its first drop in annual deliveries last year. The amount of time Musk has spent at Tesla has been of concern to some investors, leading him to assure investors last month that he would reduce his time with DOGE to one or two days a week from May.
