Michigan Democrats Won’t Explain Their Cozy Relationship With Anti-American Imam

Here’s what you need to know about the Michigan Democratic Party right now. They’re scrambling to delete evidence of their long-standing relationship with an imam who mourned Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei and operates out of a mosque that peddles Iranian propaganda. And when asked about it? They’re brushing it off like it’s nothing.

Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi runs the Islamic House of Wisdom in Dearborn Heights, and until recently, his social media pages looked like a Democratic Party reunion photo album. We’re talking pictures with Bill Clinton, Kamala Harris, John Kerry, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. The whole gang was there, smiling for the camera, glad-handing with a man who eulogized one of America’s most vocal enemies.

Then Fox Digital started asking questions. Suddenly, those photos started disappearing faster than Hunter Biden’s laptop from mainstream news coverage. Funny how that works, isn’t it?

The scrubbing operation tells you everything. If these relationships were innocent, if they were just standard political outreach to religious communities, why delete the evidence? Politicians take thousands of photos. They show up at community events. That’s the job. But when you start wiping your digital footprint the moment someone asks about it, you’re admitting there’s something worth hiding.

Let’s be clear about who we’re talking about here. This isn’t some moderate religious leader promoting interfaith dialogue and American values. Elahi mourned Khamenei, a man whose regime has chanted “Death to America” as a national pastime for decades. The Islamic House of Wisdom has documented ties to Iranian propaganda efforts. This isn’t guilt by association. This is association with the guilty.

Michigan Democrats, including current candidates for office and the state’s highest-ranking leaders, have cultivated these relationships for years. They’ve attended events at his mosque. They’ve posed for photos. They’ve legitimized a man who legitimizes America’s enemies. And now that it’s inconvenient, they’re acting like concerned citizens are making mountains out of molehills.

You know what’s really happening here? It’s the same playbook we’ve seen a thousand times. Democrats will court any vote, embrace any ally, as long as it helps them win elections. Principles come second to power. Always have. The Michigan Arab American community is politically significant, especially in Dearborn and surrounding areas. So Democratic politicians show up, smile, and don’t ask too many questions about who’s hosting the event or what they said last week about American foreign policy.

This matters beyond Michigan. It speaks to a broader willingness among Democrats to overlook extremism when it’s politically convenient. Imagine if Republican politicians were photographed repeatedly with a religious leader who praised America’s enemies. The media would run that story for six months straight. There’d be congressional hearings. But when it’s Democrats? Crickets from most outlets, and a quick social media cleanup operation.

The Iranian regime isn’t some abstract geopolitical concern. They fund terrorism across the Middle East. They’ve killed American soldiers through proxy forces. They’re racing toward nuclear weapons while promising to wipe Israel off the map. And here’s an imam in Michigan mourning their leadership, while Michigan’s Democratic establishment treats him like a valued community partner.

Whitmer and the others owe voters an explanation that goes beyond dismissive hand-waving. What did they know about Elahi’s views? Did they care? Or was the political calculation simple enough that they didn’t bother to look too closely? These are fair questions, and the photo deletion spree suggests the answers aren’t flattering.

American voters deserve leaders who won’t compromise on basics like opposing regimes that want us destroyed. That’s not asking for much. It’s the bare minimum.
