Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem reported on Wednesday that an individual, believed to be residing in the U.S. illegally, has been apprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers. This arrest was made due to an alleged threat against President Donald Trump.

On May 21st, an ICE field intelligence officer received a handwritten letter, purportedly penned by Ramon Morales Reyes, a 54-year-old Mexican national. Reports indicate that Mr. Reyes illegally entered the U.S. a minimum of nine times between the years 1998 and 2005. On the day following the receipt of the letter, Mr. Reyes was arrested by ICE officials.

Secretary Noem stated, “Thanks to our ICE officers, this illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is behind bars.” She included a copy of the alleged letter and details of Mr. Reyes’ arrest. This incident occurred less than a year following an attempt on President Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania, and less than a fortnight after former FBI Director James Comey’s controversial Instagram post, interpreted by many as a coded call to violence against the President.

Secretary Noem further added, “All politicians and members of the media should take notice of these repeated attempts on President Trump’s life and tone down their rhetoric.” She committed to taking all measures necessary for the protection of the President.

Mr. Reyes’ criminal record includes felony hit and run, criminal damage to property, and disorderly conduct with a domestic abuse modifier. He is currently in ICE custody at Dodge County Jail in Juneau, Wisconsin, awaiting his removal proceedings.

The letter stated, “We are tired of this president messing with us Mexicans – we have done more for this country than you white people – you have been deporting my family and I think it is time Donald J. Trump gets what he has coming to him. I will self-deport myself back to Mexico, but not before I use my 30-yard 6 [rifle] to shoot your precious president in the head – I will see him at one of his big rallies.”

To conclude, this story highlights a compelling case of a threat to the life of the President, an offense taken with utmost seriousness by our law enforcement agencies. Let’s pray for the safety of law enforcement, ICE agents, and the President.
