The acting government of Kosovo has consented to host migrants deported from the United States, albeit temporarily, according to Radio Free Europe’s recent report.
Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that once a consensus is reached, Kosovo will receive up to 50 migrants who are currently waiting for resettlement to their countries of origin. “The Government of Kosovo will make selections from a proposed group, provided they adhere to specific rule of law and public order criteria,” Kurti announced on Wednesday.
This development follows earlier reports from Bloomberg, which suggested that, as part of the State Department’s broader deportation strategy, the Trump administration was urging “Serbia and other Balkan nations” to accept deported migrants.
This not only raises important questions about the future of these individuals, but also about the broader implications of US deportation policies.
