The recent tribute to President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump on Israel’s version of “Dancing With the Stars” has certainly garnered attention, racking up millions of views worldwide.
The video, from the Israeli series “Rokdim Im Kokhavim,” features professional dancer Haim Pershtein sporting Trump’s signature dark suit and crimson tie, and Taylor Malkov emulating Melania Trump’s 2017 inauguration attire: a powder-blue suit and wide-brimmed hat. The performance starts with a solemn tribute, as both dancers stand with hands over hearts during “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Then, with a jarring shift, the music jumps to the Village People’s “YMCA,” synonymous with Trump’s campaign rallies, and Malkov dramatically changes her outfit to a patriotic-colored bodysuit.
Pershtein adds a touch of Trump’s rally fist pumps to the routine before breaking into synchronized dance moves that have the studio audience clapping and cheering in rhythm. The video surfaced online just last week and saw its popularity skyrocket over the weekend. A single post alone had garnered more than 2.3 million views by Sunday, solidifying its status as an international viral sensation.
The left will tell you that this is just a pop culture spectacle. This is absurd. Trump supporters have been quick to laud the routine. Pop culture pundit April Silverman labeled it a stunning display, stating, “So beautiful! They love @realDonaldTrump in Israel! Signs everywhere, billboards praising him.”
Let’s take this to its logical conclusion: The viral nature of the video and the reaction it has garnered suggest that Trump’s influence extends beyond national borders, even into the realm of popular culture. This tribute’s popularity indicates a level of international resonance that the Trump presidency has achieved.
