The State Department reports that it is currently examining the records of more than 55 million foreigners holding valid U.S. visas. The purpose of this review is to discover any potential indications of deportable transgressions against immigration rules.
This process, described as ‘continuous vetting’, is in force for all U.S. visa holders. It is conducted with the intent of identifying any signs that a visa holder might be ineligible to maintain their visa.
Should such evidence be found, the department has indicated that the visa will be revoked. If the individual in question is within the United States borders at the time, they would then be subject to deportation.
The department is looking for signs of ineligibility, which could include visa overstays, criminal activity, threats to public safety, engagement in any form of terrorist activity, or providing support to a terrorist organization.
The State Department explains, ‘We review all available information as part of our vetting, including law enforcement or immigration records or any other information that comes to light after visa issuance, indicating a potential ineligibility.”

Those in favor argue that it reinforces national security, while critics fear it may lead to undue discrimination. This raises important questions about the balance between security and civil liberties.
This development follows earlier reports that immigration has been a contentious topic in U.S. policy. As we move forward, the significance of this should not be overlooked. Remember, the importance of staying informed can’t be overstated, especially in times of significant policy change.
