Shocking ‘Missing Minute’ of Epstein Video Finally Released

The infamous ‘missing minute’ of surveillance video, notably showing no activity outside the prison cell of Jeffrey Epstein, has been released as part of Monday’s file dump by the House Oversight Committee. This update comes amidst the ongoing investigation into Epstein’s circumstances of death.

Attorney General Pam Bondi had previously asserted that the footage from this particular minute was not available due to a video changeover at midnight. This assertion fueled conjectures that someone might have surreptitiously accessed Epstein’s cell.

The newly released video, despite its lack of new activity, raises questions about why it had not been included in earlier releases of Epstein cell footage, as reported by the New York Post on Wednesday. Some social media accounts imply a sinister undertone to a guard’s movements in the background, yet the lack of activity in front of the cell door suggests otherwise.

The evidence suggests that the footage, released by the House Oversight Committee as part of more than 33,000 documents and videos related to Epstein’s sex trafficking investigation, illustrates the moment surveillance cameras outside his Manhattan prison cell reset at midnight.

When the Justice Department initially disclosed Epstein-related files, it was swiftly noted that one minute of video, just before midnight on August 9, 2019, was missing. This gap, occurring mere hours before Epstein was discovered dead in his Metropolitan Correctional Center cell, ignited widespread suspicions of foul play.

At the time, Bondi dismissed these concerns, stating the Bureau of Prisons routinely deletes the final minute of daily recordings as cameras reset for the new day. The recently released footage corroborates Bondi’s explanation, showing the timestamp rolling from 23:59:59 on August 9 to 00:00:00 on August 10, with two separate recordings appearing stitched together.

Importantly, the missing minute reveals no unusual activity outside Epstein’s cell block. Nevertheless, questions persist regarding why the missing segment was not previously provided in its entirety. Epstein’s death, officially ruled a suicide, continues to be the subject of speculation, given his high-profile connections and the security lapses at the jail.

As of now, Bondi has not responded to the new release, nor addressed her earlier comments in light of the now-public video. Epstein, aged 66, was awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges when he was found hanged in his cell the following morning. Images released alongside the video show officials carrying his body out of New York-Presbyterian Downtown Hospital that morning.

For now, it appears that the ‘missing minute’ has offered more clarity than mystery. Yet, whether it quells suspicions about one of the most controversial prison deaths in U.S. history remains uncertain.
