## The Numbers Don’t Lie
Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen just did something remarkable. He actually looked.
His office cross-referenced voter rolls with federal immigration records through the SAVE system and found 186 noncitizens registered to vote. Twenty-five of them had already cast ballots. Illegally.
You know what’s wild about this? For years, we’ve been told this doesn’t happen. That noncitizen voting is a fantasy cooked up by paranoid conservatives who can’t accept election results. Liberal organizations and their media allies have spent countless hours dismissing these concerns as baseless conspiracy theories.
Turns out, all it took was someone willing to actually check.
## Finally, Tools That Work
The Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements program wasn’t designed for voter verification originally. It was built to stop noncitizens from collecting public benefits meant for American taxpayers. But the Trump administration saw an opportunity and upgraded the system last August so states could verify citizenship status and cross-check against death records.
Smart move. Obvious move, really.
Alabama entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to access this tool. They’re not alone. Ohio used it to remove thousands of inactive voters. Louisiana discovered 79 noncitizens had voted in at least one election, stretching back years.
Notice a pattern? Republican-led states are the ones using this resource. The states that supposedly don’t care about voting rights are the only ones ensuring votes actually count.
## The Gaslighting Stops Here
Allen didn’t mince words in his press release. “Our elections must be decided by American citizens and only American citizens,” he said. He’s directing the immediate removal of all 186 noncitizens from the rolls and referring cases to law enforcement.
This isn’t about disenfranchisement. It’s about basic civic integrity.
When someone who isn’t a citizen casts a ballot, they’re not just breaking the law. They’re diluting your vote. They’re making your voice in our democracy a little quieter. And we’re supposed to pretend this doesn’t matter?
The gaslighting has been relentless. We’ve watched election integrity become a dirty phrase, as if wanting secure elections means you’re attacking democracy itself. The logic never made sense. What undermines democracy more than allowing people who aren’t citizens to decide our elections?
## What Comes Next
Tens of millions of voters across the country have been checked through this system. But only in states where officials actually care enough to use it.
That’s the frustrating part. The tool exists. The technology works. We could verify citizenship status nationwide tomorrow if there was political will. But half the country treats election security measures like voter suppression schemes.
Allen’s office will continue identifying violations and ensuring “the full force of the law is applied.” Good. These aren’t victimless crimes or administrative hiccups. They’re deliberate violations of the most fundamental right in our republic.
Alabama found 186 registered noncitizens in one state using one database. How many more are out there in states that refuse to look? In jurisdictions where asking for ID is considered racist?
We don’t know. And that should terrify everyone who believes in legitimate elections.
The evidence is mounting. The data is clear. Noncitizen voting happens. It’s not widespread enough to flip presidential elections, maybe. But it’s real. It’s happening. And it matters.
Alabama just proved it. Now the question is whether anyone else will bother to check.
