Tulsi Gabbard walked out of her Director of National Intelligence office and dropped a bomb on her way through the door. The declassified documents she released don’t just embarrass the Biden administration. They potentially implicate Xavier Becerra, California’s Democratic nominee for governor, in a coverup that makes Watergate look like a parking ticket dispute.
Here’s what we know. The documents show that Becerra, while serving as Health and Human Services Secretary, actively worked to suppress whistleblower testimony that would have exposed Anthony Fauci’s lies about COVID’s origins. Not just passively allowed it to happen. Actively suppressed it. This wasn’t bureaucratic incompetence or some midlevel staffer going rogue. This was deliberate censorship from the top.
And honestly, the timing couldn’t be worse for Becerra. He’s already drowning in a separate scandal involving his chief of staff, Sean McCluskie, who faces federal indictments for allegedly conspiring to steal campaign funds. McCluskie supposedly worked with Dana Williamson, Gavin Newsom’s former chief of staff, to siphon money from Becerra’s dormant campaign account to pad McCluskie’s salary when he moved to Washington. Neither Becerra nor Newsom face criminal charges yet, but that “yet” is doing heavy lifting.
Now add the COVID coverup to the mix. You’ve got a gubernatorial candidate who may have helped bury the truth about a virus that killed over a million Americans. The lab leak theory wasn’t fringe conspiracy nonsense peddled by basement dwellers. It was a legitimate scientific hypothesis that deserved investigation, and Becerra apparently helped smother it.
Larry Sanger, Wikipedia’s ex-founder, flagged these documents first. That’s worth noting because Sanger knows something about information control and censorship. He watched his own creation become a propaganda tool. When he says these PDFs contain blockbusters, you should listen.
The question isn’t whether Fauci lied to Congress anymore. The documents make that clear enough. The question is who helped him lie and who helped cover it up afterward. Becerra’s fingerprints are all over this thing.
Think about what suppressing whistleblower testimony actually means. Someone inside the government had information about COVID’s origins. Someone wanted to tell the truth. And someone else, someone with power and authority, made sure that truth stayed buried. In a functioning republic, that’s called obstruction. In our current system, it’s called Tuesday.
Becerra needs lawyers. Good ones. The kind who specialize in federal investigations and congressional testimony. Because if Republicans take the House in the midterms, which looks increasingly likely, those committee chairs are going to want answers. They’re going to want to know exactly what Becerra knew, when he knew it, and what he did to keep the American people in the dark.
California voters deserve better than this. They deserve a governor who doesn’t treat transparency like an optional suggestion. They deserve someone who won’t sacrifice truth on the altar of political convenience. They deserve someone who hasn’t potentially committed federal crimes while in office.
The Fauci coverup represents everything wrong with our current ruling class. They lied. They censored. They destroyed careers and reputations of scientists who dared question the approved narrative. And now we’re supposed to hand one of the key players in that coverup the keys to the nation’s largest state economy?
Becerra can run his campaign ads and talk about his vision for California all he wants. But those declassified documents aren’t going anywhere. The truth has a way of surfacing eventually, no matter how many layers of bureaucratic concrete you pour over it. And when it does, voters remember who tried to bury it.
