While America Mourns Graham, a Democrat Ally Celebrates His Death

Senator Lindsey Graham is dead, and a so-called religious leader in Dallas thinks that’s cause for celebration. Within hours of the announcement, Imam Omar Suleiman posted his gleeful response for the world to see. “May you live an eternity in ruins,” he wrote. That’s not a prayer. That’s a curse, plain and simple, directed at an American senator who just passed away.

Here’s what should alarm every American regardless of political stripe. This isn’t some fringe figure shouting into the void from a basement somewhere. Suleiman operates openly in Texas, commands a significant following, and enjoys something far more disturbing than mere tolerance. He’s got friends in high places. Really high places.

The Democrat Party has rolled out the red carpet for this man. They invited him to Congress. Let that sink in for a moment. Congressional Democrats brought Suleiman in to offer a prayer to Allah on the House floor, treating him like some respected interfaith bridge-builder. Meanwhile, this same imam has defended convicted terrorists, called for a third Intifada, and jets off to Turkey to coordinate with Muslim Brotherhood leaders who are literally banned from entering our country.

Amy Mek from the RAIR Foundation has been sounding the alarm on Suleiman for years. She’s right to call him one of America’s most dangerous imams. But here’s the thing that keeps me up at night. It’s not just that he exists or that he holds these views. Radical ideologues have always existed. What’s unprecedented is the institutional embrace he receives from one of our two major political parties.

The left loves to lecture conservatives about Islamophobia and religious tolerance. They’ve weaponized those terms so effectively that legitimate criticism of radical Islam gets you labeled a bigot faster than you can say “national security.” But celebrating the death of an American senator? That apparently doesn’t cross any lines for them. The cognitive dissonance is staggering.

This is what the so-called Red-Green alliance looks like in practice. Leftist progressives (the Reds) have formed an unholy partnership with Islamist radicals (the Greens) based on their shared contempt for Western civilization and traditional American values. They’re strange bedfellows united by a common enemy, which happens to be us. The alliance makes tactical sense for both sides even if their ultimate visions for society couldn’t be more different.

Democrats will tell you they’re just being inclusive, that they’re standing against religious discrimination. But there’s a universe of difference between protecting the rights of Muslim Americans to practice their faith and platforming someone who openly works against American interests. One is constitutional principle. The other is political suicide masquerading as virtue.

You know what really gets me? The double standard is so glaring you’d need sunglasses to look at it directly. Imagine for one second if a conservative Christian pastor celebrated the death of a Democrat senator. The media firestorm would be nuclear. That pastor would be deplatformed, denounced, and driven from public life before sunset. But Suleiman? He operates with zero government pushback, as Mek correctly notes.

Graham wasn’t perfect. No politician is. He frustrated conservatives plenty of times with his establishment instincts and his willingness to compromise on issues where principle demanded a firmer stance. But he served his country in the Air Force, represented South Carolina for decades, and whatever you thought of his politics, he was an American who deserved basic respect in death.

The fact that Democrats continue embracing Suleiman after this display tells you everything you need to know about their priorities. They’ve chosen their side in the culture war, and it’s not the side of traditional American values or basic decency. When winning political points against conservatives matters more than condemning someone who celebrates an American official’s death, you’ve lost the plot entirely.

This isn’t about Islam as a religion. Millions of Muslim Americans are patriotic, law-abiding citizens who contribute to their communities every day. This is about one radical imam with dangerous connections who Democrats have inexplicably decided to treat as a legitimate voice. That’s a choice. A bad one.
