Jeff Zucker Out At CNN After Failing To Disclose Consensual Relationship With Colleague

Published on

Jeff Zucker, embattled CNN boss, walked away from the liberal network’s headquarters Wednesday after failing to disclose a “consensual relationship” with a CNN employee. Stelter said that CNN employees were shocked by the sudden resignation.

According to CNN’s marketing chief Allison Gollust, Zucker was in a relationship. According to Stelter, Gollust, the ex-head of CNN, is still at CNN.

Andrew Cuomo was New York’s communications director in 2012. Gollust was the ex-Governor of New York. Four months after her arrival at CNN, Gollust became close to Zucker. She was even considered to be a candidate to replace Zucker at the top liberal network.

According to industry insiders, Zucker’s relationship with Gollust has been kept a secret for quite some time. Recently, they were seen together at a Madison Square Garden show.

“Jeff is a friend and colleague for over 20 years,” Gollust said in a statement that he regretted not revealing the information at a more suitable time.

For over a year, Zucker was being scrutinized for his future as the leader of the liberal network.

Zucker stated to CNN staffers in February 2021, that he would continue to oversee the liberal network throughout the year but that he expects to “move forward” once his contract expires in 2021.

Rumors that Zucker would be leaving CNN were dismissed by many insiders. An employee of CNN told Fox News Digital casually that Zucker was staying.

The merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery took place months later. David Zaslav, Discovery CEO and Zucker’s long-time friend, was chosen to lead the venture. WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar had to leave because Zucker was not happy reporting to him.

Zucker and Zaslav belong to the same social circle. According to reports, they are part of the same social circle.

Kilar accepted Zucker’s resignation.

Interim CEOs at CNN, Amy Entelis, and Ken Jautz are Amy Entelis and Michael Bass.
