Twitter Staffers Vent Online Over Elon Musk’s Takeover Attempt

Published on

Twitter employees woke up Thursday morning to learn that Elon Musk offered $43 billion to buy the social media juggernaut. He would then make it private. Fox News Digital reports that Twitter will hold an all hands staff meeting Thursday to discuss the situation. Some employees are worried about Musk’s possible takeover.

Many people assumed that the news would cause liberal Twitter employees to flee to safer places. Ex-Google consultant Joe Toscano was featured prominently in “The Social Dilemma.” He has worked for many years with tech staffers and believes that the news can actually polarize rank and file employees.

“I think there are a good number of them that are excited about it. There’s likely a lot of people who have great ideas but haven’t been allowed to execute them due to the lack of leadership on Twitter. “So, I think there are a lot of them excited. But I’m also sure that there are a lot who are scared because Elon Musk represents a radical leader and could drastically change their operation,” Toscano stated to Fox News Digital.

Toscano stated that Musk may cut employees he considers “unworthy” or “nonfunctional,” which is clearly a concern for employees.

He said, “I’m certain there are people in fear.”

“I can’t even deal with El*n buying Twitter. One Twitter employee said that he may need to rethink his employment if this happens.

Another Twitter employee Dani Trevino responded to a reporter asking what he should question Musk after a planned TED Talk.

Trevino wrote, “Ask him whether he knows that Twitter’s bizarre behavior actually impacts the lives and 8k hardworking employees around the globe,” Trevino said.

Trevino continued, “Sending positive vibes all west coast tweeps that are going to wakeup to this news,”

Another Twitter employee said, “The West coast will be having to wake-up to new hell and chaos.” Lol.”

Musk’s offer was made during “focus week”, a time when employees are expected to be focused. Another Twitter employee joked that “focus has left chat”.

Fox News Digital reached out to dozens of staff members who either declined to comment or did not respond.

According to Bloomberg, Twitter employees had taken a day off Monday to rest and were now “super stressed” when they learned that Musk refused to accept a seat on the company’s board of directors. This was because he could criticize the platform.

Bloomberg stated that employees were working together “to help each other get the week through.” Musk, who is a self-described freedom of speech absolutist, offered to buy the company and make it private.

Musk had previously suggested that Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters could be turned into a shelter for homeless people. Staffers were told that they can continue to work remotely.
