FDA’s Ban On Juul E-Cigarettes Delayed By Appeals Court

After e-cigarette company Vapour, the Wall Street Journal reported that FDA ordered Juul devices banned by the District of Columbia on Friday was temporarily halted by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

Thursday’s FDA statement stated that the FDA has not received any clinical information that suggests an immediate hazard from Juul devices. However, it said that there is insufficient evidence to evaluate the potential toxicological hazards of the product.

Juul retorted on Friday, arguing it would “suffer significant irreparable damage.”

Juul stated that in our applications submitted more than two years ago, “we believe we adequately characterized the toxicological profiles of JUUL products including comparisons with combustible cigarettes, and that this data, together with the whole of the evidence, meets statutory standards of being ‘appropriate to the protection of public health.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Juul may file for bankruptcy if it cannot avoid FDA’s ban.
