Utah Author Accused Of Murdering Husband With Fentanyl Bought Drug From Housekeeper

According to a recent report, a Utah mother accused of killing her husband by drugging him allegedly purchased hundreds of dollars worth of lethal fentanyl tablets from her housekeeper weeks before the murder.
Kouri Richins is accused of poisoning her husband Eric, 39, the father of their three children. She wrote “Are You with Me?” a book for children about grief after his death.

Authorities claim that she sueded his estate, claimed life insurance worth millions, and invested lavishly in real estate.

Prosecutors claim that her husband died of a lethal fentanyl overdose after the drug was mixed in his drink last summer.

According to Salt Lake City KSL-TV, Richins’s housekeeper Carmen Marie Lauber has admitted selling Richins at least dozens of pills two times before the murder.

The outlet reported that Lauber was not charged with any crime but her name appears in court documents relating to the murder trial of Richins.

According to a search order obtained by the station, “Lauber admitted that she supplied Kouri Richins 15-30 fentanyl tablets on two separate occasions approximately one month prior to Eric’s death.” She said Kouri paid about $900 for each pill she provided.

According to the report, Lauber had GPS tracking and was convicted of a drug offense unrelated in 2021. Authorities claim that the drugs Richins allegedly received from Lauber were used to commit a murder.

Before his death, Richins’s husband and the prosecutor allegedly had a feud over money and investments in real estate.

Authorities claim that the day after her husband’s death, she sealed a deal for a multimillion dollar mansion, which her husband had not wanted to purchase.

Between 2015 and 2017, she allegedly bought four different policies of life insurance on her husband, totaling nearly $2 million.

Prosecutors claim that on January 1, 2020, three months prior to his death, she “secretly and without authorization” changed the beneficiary of Eric’s life insurance policy worth $2 million to her.

According to court documents, after his death in March of 2022, she allegedly looked up “luxury jails for the wealthy” on Google.
