Alabama Pastor, Mayor Dies by Suicide After Cross-Dressing Photos Emerge

Published on

Last week, an Alabama pastor and mayor took his own life after a conservative website posted photos of him in women’s clothes.

F.L. “Bubba” Copeland, 49, was the mayor of Smiths Station and was a senior pastor at First Baptist Church in nearby Phenix City when 1819 News revealed his secret life online as a “transgender curvy girl.”

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Copeland then shot himself two days later in front of deputies who had pulled him over for a welfare check.

The sheriff’s department said that “he exited the car with a handgun and committed suicide.”

According to the report, Copeland used the pseudonym Brittini Summerlin on Reddit and Instagram, posting pictures of himself wearing lingerie or his wife’s clothes.

“Brittini” described herself as a “transitioning transgender curvy girl, that loves smiling, clothes, and shoes!”

The married father of 3 also posted explicit transgender pornography and wrote erotica, according to reports.

1819 News published an article on Copeland’s alter ego, which included screenshots and photos of his racy internet activity.

Copeland, according to reports, confirmed his involvement in the accounts to the news website. He described it as “a hobby I do to relieve my stress.”

He said that his wife was well aware of the risky pastime he indulged in.

He added, “I’m just playing a little bit of a role.” “I do not go out to solicitation or anything of the sort.”

He claimed that the erotica in which he was involved was “pure fiction.”

Copeland said to the outlet that “what I do in my private life has no relation to what I do in holy life.” Does it matter that I wear a dress sometimes or makeup sometimes if I am the mayor? Is there any connection between me being a mayor or a priest and wearing lingerie?

According to the report, after the interview, he deleted his accounts and asked that the news website not publish the screenshots.

He delivered his usual sermon the same day that the exposé was published online.

Copeland said to parishioners on Facebook Live “I am the victim of an Internet attack. The article does not represent who I am. Yes, I took pictures of my wife and me in our private home as a joke because I am not a beautiful man or woman. I apologize for any embarrassment that my private and personal life has caused.”

The scandal was covered by 1819 News two days later. Copeland committed suicide just hours after the story.

In Copeland’s erotic fiction, he allegedly wrote about transitioning to a woman, murdering a local business owner to steal her identity, and then seducing her husband, the report says.

The woman told 1819 News that she knew Copeland’s family and was distraught to learn that her name and business had been used in the erotica.

The report claims that Copeland also posted explicit comments on pictures of locals including a minor without their consent.
