Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis recently announced the next steps to holding President Joe Biden and his administration accountable for the ongoing border crisis. He said he is working to hold the federal government accountable for refusing to enforce the immigration laws of the country, reimplementing catch-and-release, and releasing nearly a quarter-million illegal aliens into the United States.
The number of encounters has skyrocketed over the last few months, going from 78,000 in January to well over 210,000 in July. This is a 171% increase in illegal immigration since Joe Biden took office and is considered the highest monthly total in more than 20 years, with no sign of slowing down.
“This executive order makes it clear that Florida resources will not be used to prop up the failed open border agenda enacted by this administration. Attorney General Ashley Moody has also filed a lawsuit against the Biden Administration challenging its policy of catching and releasing the staggering number of illegal aliens apprehended at the border into the United States,” DeSantis said.
DeSantis signed the Biden Border Crisis Executive Order which would prohibit Florida agencies from assisting the federal government in transporting illegal aliens, requiring agencies to use their ‘SAVE’ program, and using all lawful investigative means to determine how many illegal aliens were transported from the southwest border to Florida since January 2021.
DeSantis previously asked Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for an estimate of how many illegal immigrants have been released into Florida but the letter has gone unanswered. Florida AG Ashley Moody warns the Biden Administration that they’ve created a crisis at the Southern Border like border officials have never seen before and have made an open invitation for dangerous criminals, human traffickers, and drug traffickers, to enter the United States.
DeSantis has continued to emphasize how the Biden Administration is putting their “destructive and illegal” immigration policies over the rights of residents in the Sunshine State. He called it “intentional,” “ideological,” and said they want a massive illegal migration into this country. He went on to claim that it was very clear there are “open borders” in the Biden Administration and that it’s a crisis of their own making. He notes how this will damage border town states even more with unprecedented health, financial, economic, and public safety costs.
Public safety czar Larry Keefe said he would implement the actions in the executive order to ensure that Florida resources are not used by the Biden Administration. He said that the state of Florida has been impacted by the increased illegal immigration and that he has seen the same people getting deported and then coming back. He said it is an endless cycle that the states have to “bear the brunt of” and that DeSantis wanted to address the need of ending that impact.
AG Moody also notes that these orders are needed due to Biden’s “brazen disregard” for standard immigration laws. They’ve continued to jeopardize the safety and security of our state and nation, all while costing the Florida taxpayers.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott have been some of the only brave GOP politicians to take on the Biden administration and call them out during the border crisis. They want to abolish the Border Patrol, ICE, and anyone standing for the rule of the law, to secure the power and elections they want. Biden has been doing nothing but promising millions of people citizenship in exchange for them to come here and vote left. If that’s not bribery, I don’t know what is.
