Illinois Dem Who Used Rittenhouse Case To Mock Waukesha Tragedy Has Resigned

Illinois Dem Mary Lemanski recently appeared to paint the Christmas parade tragedy in Waukesha as a way of retribution for the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse in Kenosha. Anne Sommerkamp, executive director of the Dem Party in Illinois, announced that Lemanski had resigned as social media director and was removed from their website at the beginning of the week.

Sommerkamp confirmed that the Twitter account that had posted the comment also belonged to the same Mary Lemanski, who had resigned. Lemanski wrote that the Christmas Parade tragedy was “probably just self-defense” while using the hashtags “Wisconsin” and “KyleRittenhouse.”

Lemanski describes herself as an actor student and referred to the Waukesha’s SUV driver as some who “probably felt threatened.” She wrote that he had been living and working in Wisconsin and was certain that he didn’t mean to hurt anyone. She said he came to assist people.

These messages seemed to mock Rittenhouse’s self-defense argument, which Rittenhouse and his defense team had made during their trial. A Wisconsin jury evidently agreed with Rittenhouse’s argument as they found him not guilty of murder in connection to two shooting deaths last January.

She writes that the blood of Kyle Rittenhouse’s victims is on Wisconsin citizens, even children. Lemanski seemed to try to use a more snarky, but still judgmental tone for another message. She wrote that she feels sad but believes in Karma, and it came quickly to the citizens of Wisconsin.” She wrote another post saying that “you reap what you sow” in Wisconsin. Later, Lemanski wrote that it was sad that people have died, but when vigilante justice is opened, everyone seems to be threatening.

Lemanski was described as the “DuPage Dems’ Differencemaker” in a 2019 self-written biography posted on the DuPage County Dem Party website. She also wrote on her Facebook about a white wing group trying to stop her speaking at school board meetings, later accusing the group of being fascists who suppressed “all opposing views.”

According to Waukesha officials, Sunday’s tragedy left at least five dead and more than 40 injured.
