Border Patrol Agents Nab Slew Of Criminals, Gang Members In One Border Sector

Border Patrol agents captured a number of criminals in the Rio Grande Valley Sector within days. Officials are concerned about illegal immigrants crossing the border unassisted.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP), in a press release, said that agents found Monday that a MS-13 gang member had been deported and was being smuggled into the country as part of a group 67 migrants.

Mara Salvatrucha (also known as MS-13) was established in Los Angeles by Central American immigrants. It has since expanded throughout the continent, especially in the Northern Triangle countries of El Salvador and Guatemala. It is well-known for its particularly horrifying and horrific crimes. The motto of MS-13 is “mata viola controla” — “killed, raped, controlled.”

Agents also arrested a Mexican national in a drug smuggling operation. He was later convicted of attempted murder and deported.

After being found among 35 others illegally entering the U.S., McAllen agents arrested a Salvadoran 24-year-old wanted for murder in his homeland.

Agents stopped a group comprising 10 migrants who were attempting to cross the Rio Grande on Wednesday. One of the 10 migrants was a Mexican national who had been convicted of rape and served 11 years in Indiana prison.

Agents arrested a Honduran MS-13 member who had been convicted of assault causing bodily injury to a relative. He was deported several times before being picked up by agents.

Agents in the sector discovered a Mexican traveler in a group that included migrants who were convicted for viewing images of minors engaging in sexually explicit behavior in 2012. He was sentenced to rape of a minor two years later.

Agents seized two groups of migrants from McAllen, Texas, on Friday. They included a Paisas member who was convicted of cruelty to a child, and a Honduran with a conviction in homicide in Honduras.

In the five-months to date, there have been a total of 3,662 arrests for migrants with criminal convictions. This compares to 10,763 in FY 2021 and 2,438 for FY 2020.

Multiple CBP sources have told Fox News that 62,000 illegal immigrants evaded Border Patrol agents during March. This is an average of about 2,000 per day.

These same sources claim that there have been over 300,000 “gotaways” since Oct. 1, 2022, when fiscal year 2022 began.

Sources point out that there are likely more getaways than they realize because these numbers do not include all of them. Fox reported that Del Rio Sector had 700 getaways per day and Tucson Sector had 500.
