Former Attorney General Bill Barr said that John Durham, Special Counsel, has made substantial progress in his investigation into the origins of Trump-Russia’s probe. Barr was a former President George H.W. Barr, who served under Presidents George H.W. Bush and Donald Trump, stated that Durham would not hesitate to file a case against other defendants in the matter.
Barr said that “The Story” asked him to clarify that “I think the question always… was whether this was a campaign-dirty trick to get the government into investigating allegations — scurrilous claims — about Donald Trump, and then leak it right before the election.”
“And so, that raises two questions: Was Clinton’s campaign responsible for creating this false information and supplying it to the FBI? What was the FBI’s role in this?
Barr stated that the probe into Michael Sussmann (ex-Clinton attorney) is crucial to finding out if Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign was involved in illegalities.
Barr stated, “It tells us that he [has] dug deep and has developed some good data and he believes he can make an criminal case here.”
Durham, the former Connecticut federal prosecutor, said that there was never any doubt in his mind that Durham would prove a crime and bring it to trial.
Barr responded to questions about Trump’s latest allegations that he brought White House documents to Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. He said it was like making a mountain from a molehill.
“[T]he whole classification process is for the president — he’s the one who uses it.” He can also declassify or classify items if he wishes,” he stated, adding that there may be a technical violation.
