In an exclusive statement, Jessica Anderson, Executive Director of Heritage Action for America, told Breitbart News on Friday that the left “plays politics” with Americans’ healthcare by trying to conceal the “true price” of Obamacare.
Biden and his Democrat majority passed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan last year, which was the Democrats’ coronavirus assistance bill. The bill included Obamacare subsidies that were higher than the ACA’s subsidy threshold of 400 percent of the poverty level. The enhanced subsidies will expire because Democrats have not passed a reconciliation bill that can be passed across party lines to continue funding the American Rescue Plan provision.
Given the inability of Democrats to pass a reconciliation bill that includes a provision to extend the Obamacare subsidies, approximately 13 million Americans could be subject to higher premiums in October, just before the crucial 2022 congressional midterms.
Charles Gaba, a Healthcare Policy Analyst, stated to Business Insider that “there’s no denying” that they could be extended if they don’t.
Anderson blamed the Left for creating an unsustainable situation that will only make Americans’ life worse, as many families continue to be affected by inflation.
Brian Blase was a Special Assistant to Donald Trump on Economic Policy at the National Economic Council. He explained in this week’s op-ed why Congress should allow the Obamacare subsidies from American Rescue Plan to expire.
Blase concluded his article by pointing out that Obamacare’s enhanced subsidies will only try to mask the systemic problems of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Blase stated that Congress must reform the ACA’s regulatory structure. This has limited Americans’ healthcare options and lowered quality health insurance.
