Critical Race Theory: Where Did It Come From & How Did It Get To My Classroom?

Published on

Critical Race Theory (“CRT ”) has attracted attention from minority academics and the public education system over the past few years. As the movement gains strength, it is urgent to conduct a systematic and thorough review of all the material. What is CRT? And where did it come from?

The 1930’s saw the birth of Critical Race Theory as a means to create a communist state, and eliminate capitalism. The Frankfurt School, which included Herbert Marcus, Herbert Marcus, Theodor Adorno and Erich Fromm, introduced the ideas. Derrick Bell, one the founders of CRT, believes that the ideology is a fundamentally grounded and transformative concern about race and socially constructed hierarchies. CRT material readers are required to experience race, and then share their experiences with the group. Although they initially rejected Marxian means, they eventually accepted them and worked for Marxian ends. This was both a theoretical and practical delegitimization of all Western moral, socio, cultural, legal, political and economic institutions. It became less of a philosophy, but more of a tool in an endless critique of Western civilization. It was not about destroying West institutions but to infiltrate and undermine them, then silently rebuild from within. To transform Western institutions and cultural values into something new, the political goal was demoralization and destabilization.

Critical Race Theory, the leftist opposition group in the 1970’s, opened discussions about entering the field to “crush” the “white male elite that dominated civil rights discourse in law schools.” Although Marxism is the foundation of Critical Theory, it says we need to understand what our beliefs (including religion and politics) mean in relation to the “means of production”, namely business and industries. It is in the best interests of business owners to create laws, social norms and ideas that will keep them in power. This theory was used to describe race, gender, and other identities. It also included the notion of “systems of oppression” as a social construct.

Another movement, Critical Legal Studies, was also rising at the time. This movement believed that law, even law schools, was not apolitical. This group of predominantly white scholars was a significant force in law schools. Due to the academy’s emphasis on legal rights, there were tensions between Critical Legal Studies students as well as black scholars. Critical race theory was presented in many college humanities classes as the “only and right way” to understand the world. This included feminist theory and post-colonialism. They saw the Western canon as lacking in gender and race diversity discussion. The critique of race theory was presented to be a social construct that is enforced by white men in authority and predetermined by a person’s role in society. This idea has been explored and discussed at college-level philosophy, literature, and as a way of “dismantling” the power structure. It also serves as a vehicle for deep questions about truth, justice, and the origins of rights. The information was presented to college graduates who could not have discussions about race without the use of the terms “systematic racism” or “white privilege” in the event that people disagreed with it.

In just a few years, Critical Race Theory established a school in New York City and attracted many Latino/a & Asian writers. They have attracted minority academics to their “race theory”, while keeping critics away. It is especially harmful if you don’t agree with its philosophical framework. First, it prevents us from having meaningful conversations about race and racism. It creates a chasm among two well-meaning but probably not racist people, who may disagree on the best way to tackle it. This division is applied to all leftist doctrines, especially Marxism from which critical race theory is derived. It is easy to be swept into schools without considering equality or justice. It defines people according to their gender, race, and sexual orientation, and places them in the “oppressed” or oppressor category. It is only possible to be “freed” from this status if all existing social structures are destroyed.

Parents are now asking their children about Critical Race Theory and its origins. It was brought into American K-12 schools to be used in the classroom. Brazilian Marxist Paulo Freire applied the Critical Theory of the Frankfurt School in the field of children’s education. He also stated that learning and teaching must be linked to certain Marxian theories of justice. According to Freire, the main purpose of the course is to help students understand their oppression and to develop the knowledge and practical skills necessary to defeat and overthrow their oppressors. Kimberle Crenshaw and Jean Stefanic, who are fellow legal scholars, also claimed that American institutions and values are inherently and systemically racist.

William F. Tate IV and other supporters of Critical Race Theory have said that America is “hopelessly racist” and that the moral-constitutional principles for freedom, equality and colorblindness are little more than camouflages to white supremacy or racial oppression. This ideology was originally developed as a law school ideology. It aims to make students advocates, activists, and change agents. It seeks to replace heterosexual white men with politicized social learning and destroy all knowledge.

How did CRT become a crazy theory in America’s law school to be taught in American public schools? How are these institutions able to provide this information for America’s children and teens? The Education Deep State of America, which includes the state departments, teachers’ unions and licensure boards, textbook publishers and education associations, has all supported and promoted CRT ideology. The ideology was promoted by every institution and aspect of the Education Establishment throughout the country.

The Department of Education is now requiring school districts that receive federal funds to support its “American History and Civics Education program” has put anti-racist practices in teaching and learning. Teachers who use CRT tactics, such as systematic racism, biases and discriminatory practice in American history, are eligible for grants. Bettina Love, a communist activist, said that America’s schools were “designed to manage racism” and that it is a part of every curriculum.

48% of the teacher-training faculty of the 20 best-rated teacher colleges had an interest in research on race, diversity and equity. 24% said that these topics were their primary area of study. ( https://www.heritage.org/education/report/does-race-get-short-shrift-education-research-and-teacher-training ). The National Education Association and teachers unions have declared that they will be teaching CRT in all 50 US states. CRT consultants have also made a lot of money bringing this ideology to classrooms. Local school boards hire consultants to help with “implicit bias” training programs for government school teachers. Their pay can reach up to $23,000,000 Administrators and teachers were informed that “racial equality” meant favoring black children, regardless of socio-economic status. Mandatory workshops to “dismantle” American society’s systemic racism have cost consultants up to $175,000. Loudoun County Public Schools paid $422,000 to the Equity Collaborative to inform them about the racism in their school district and to help them adapt Robin DiAngelo’s book White Fragility.

The book tells 85,000 students at the LCPS that white identity is inherently racist. It also explains that white people cannot exist without the system of white supremacy. Teachers and administrators are required to attend workshops. Staff who disagree with the action-oriented policies will be punished. Ibram Kendi, an author from Fairfax County, was even paid $20,000 to conduct a Zoom call for sixty minutes with school staff. Kendi’s books were purchased by the school, which spent $24,000. After parents complained, Thomas Jefferson High School of Science and Technology principal told them to “check your privileges’ ‘. The theoretical curriculum does not focus on the wisdom and knowledge of Western civilization. It focuses instead on promoting democratic values and being agents of social change. The curriculum is being used in at least six other California school districts as well as school systems in New York, Texas, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania (https://thefederalist.com/2022/01/12/california-district-pays-nearly-170k-for-curricula-teaching-children-to-become-leftist-co-conspirators/ ) The Pulitzer Center is even offering $5,000 teacher grants to implement the 1619 curriculum (based on the New York Times’ 1619 Project) into their classrooms. The conference also covered topics like White Supremacy and White Privilege and Oppression and The Negative Effects Of White Privilege For People of Color.

The textbooks also change with the curriculum. The textbook publishers have rewritten K-12 textbooks and reading materials in recent years to make them compatible with CRT materials. America’s government schools have been radicalized with CRT ideology/philosophy over the past 30 years. Left-wing ideology is being taught to children in elite left-leaning law schools and other politically ambitious schools. This ideology has been pushed into American institutions at an astonishing rate by the Democratic Party, which controls educational resources and creates revolutionary political systems in America’s schools. The government school system has been reshaped and made into a Neo-Marxist left ideology and weapon to overthrow schools and brainwash children. It is amazing to see the dishonesty of the educational establishment as democratic leaders continue publicly to claim that CRT isn’t being taught in America’s government schools. Randi Weingarten claimed that CRT wasn’t being taught in American schools, while her union openly supported it.

This philosophy continues to be propagated by school officials, government leaders, educational instructors, and others. What long-term consequences will it have on black children if they are told America is systematically racist? And what long-term effects will it have on white children being told that they are inherently racist because of their whiteness? Critical race theory is a method that takes a particular law school-based philosophy and makes it relevant to teaching children how to view the world through the lense of race. It helps children see color first. CRT can be psychologically damaging and also causes shame, guilt, self-loathing, and guilt.

Is this the future for American children?
