GOP Candidate Says It’s No Surprise Liz Cheney Endorsed His Democratic Opponent

Republican state senator Tom Barrett of Michigan thinks it’s not surprising that Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo. She voted against her party and supported her Democratic opponent, Rep. Elissa Slotkin in her campaign to re-elect herself this fall.

“My entire adult life has been dedicated the Army. I’ve lost too many friends as a consequence of America’s endless wars.

Slotkin stated that she would join American troops in fighting a war against Asia. This exposes Washington’s permanent War-First/America-Last agenda. Slotkin will keep Cheney company, while I try to stop America being involved in unnecessary wars. ”

Cheney, a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump’s policies, announced her endorsement in Thursday’s press release. She stated that she was proud to support the Democratic candidate and that she would attend an “Evening for Patriotism and Bipartisanship” event in Michigan Tuesday to support Slotkin’s campaign.

“I’m proud to endorse Elissa slotskin.” Cheney stated that Elissa is a hardworking, honest, and dedicated public servant.

Both women are members of the House Armed Services Committee. Both women have backgrounds in national defense which resulted in Cheney’s endorsement for the Democrat running to re-election.

“Ellissa’s policy differences are not mutually exclusive. However, at a time when our nation faces threats at home and abroad, we need substantive and serious members of Congress like Elissa.” Cheney said that she encouraged all 7th-district voters to vote for her.

Cheney ran for re-election in Wyoming’s At Large Congressional District. However, Harriet Hageman was elected to the Vice Chair of the Jan.6 Committee. She was one 10 Republican representatives who voted against President Donald Trump.

Slotkin said that Rep. Cheney’s voice was crucial at a time in which our democracy’s very core has been challenged. There have been two things throughout our history that have helped us weather these difficult times: engaged citizens and principled leaders, from both right and left.

Most Republican Party members disapproved of Cheney’s harsh criticism of Trump and her participation in the Jan. 6 Committee. This committee seeks to prove that Trump incited and was responsible for the breaching of the U.S. Capitol following the 2020 election.

Rumours circulating that Cheney plans to run for president in 2024 were unfounded. However, he has not made any official announcements.
