We previously reported that four Americans were held at gunpoint and kidnapped in Matamoros, Mexico on Friday.
The four were traveling in a white minivan with North Carolina plates and came under fire shortly after crossing into Mexico per the FBI’s San Antonio Division office. “All four Americans were placed in a vehicle and taken from the scene by armed men,” the office said.
On Tuesday morning, the Governor of Tamaulipas held a press conference to inform the public about the status of the four Americans.
Two Americans were taken by the ‘Gulf Cartel at the US border to Mexico’ and killed. Three more Americans have been identified as alive and one was wounded.
According to the Tamaulipas State Attorney General’s Office: “The four American citizens detained last Friday were located.”
“Unfortunately, two are dead. Investigators and intelligence personnel continue to search for the culprits.
The Americans have been identified as Latavia “Tay” McGee, Shaeed Woodard, Eric James Williams, and Zindell Brown. Brown’s sister, Zalandria, said the group had headed into Mexico for one of them to obtain tummy tuck surgery from a doctor in Matamoros.
