Def Leppard Drummer Rick Allen Violently Attacked Outside Florida Hotel

Rick Allen was the legendary drummer of Def Leppard. A 19-year-old attacked him outside his Florida hotel.

7News Miami reports that Allen broke his arm in an accident in his car in 1984. A stranger attacked and beat him while he was outside, he said.

According a police report, Allen had been attacked by Max Edward Hartley (19 year old) who was visiting from Ohio. The young man ran towards the drummer (59 years old) at full speed, and knocked him to the ground.

According to the report, he “hit his head on the ground causing injury”. Hartley attacked and beat a woman who ran from the hotel in an attempt to help Allen.

Hartley was discovered by police at a nearby Hotel. Hartley was breaking windows in cars and was taken into police custody at a nearby hotel.

Allen, according reports, made a sworn statement to police that he intends to press charges.

Hartley was questioned by 7News cameramen if he is a Def Leppard fan.

“Are you a fan? Did he know his name?” A cameraman asked.

The suspect did not respond to the question except to say “Stop”, while he raised his arms in protection from the camera lense.
