White House Pushes Gun Control Before Details Of Louisville Shooting Known

Karine Jean-Pierre, White House press secretary, referenced Monday’s attack at a Louisville, Kentucky bank. She pushed for gun storage laws and an “assault weapons ban”, a ban on “high capacity” magazines, and the ability of gun manufacturers to sue.

Jean-Pierre stated that President Biden is praying to the families affected by the Old National Bank shooting.

Then, she noted that Biden would like Congressional Republicans to join with Democrats to “ban assault weapons’ and high-capacity’ magazines. To require safe storage, background checks must be conducted for all gun sales. This will eliminate gun manufacturer immunity from liability.

Jean-Pierre called the proposed gun control measures “common sense.”

She made the gun control announcement at around 2:15 p.m. Eastern. Police had not released any details about the gun or how it was obtained.

Breitbart News previously verified the claim that gun manufacturers are exempt from liability.

Gun manufacturers are protected by the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. This protects them from frivolous lawsuits arising out of legal made or sold guns. The PLCAA doesn’t provide immunity for all gun manufacturers.

PLCAA’s scope is very limited. In situations where a gun was criminally used, PLCAA protects gun manufacturers from lawsuits.

Glock cannot be sued for a handgun used in crime. The handgun was legal made and distributed to a Federal Firearms Licens holder (FFL). After that, it was sold to an individual via a National Instant Criminal Background System check (NICS).

PLCAA’s text states that businesses in the United States engaged in interstate commerce through the lawful manufacture, distribution, importation or sale to public of firearms and ammunition products that have been shipped in interstate or international commerce are not liable and should not be for any harm caused by criminally or illegally using firearm products and ammunition that work as intended.

The PLCAA protections do not protect gun makers from lawsuits for defective goods or criminal misconduct by gun makers. The protections provided by PLCAA don’t give gun makers ‘legal immunity. The report concluded.
