Joe Biden took some time out of his hectic vacation schedule to show concern for the people affected by the Maui fire disaster.
For a very short time.
He spent about five hours in the area on Monday. He managed to waste that time in the worst way possible, and he opened more wounds through the way he did and said things. Biden was unable to get the correct names of Hawaiian officials that he was supposed to be focusing on and made inappropriate comments, such as about how hot it was.
He couldn’t even get the name of his own FEMA Director correct — calling Deanne Criswell “Griswell” and claimed that the late Sen. Dan Inouye was “from Japan.” Inouye was born in Hawaii. He looked like he was completely zoning out, had a blank look on his face at the end of his remarks, and Sen. Brian Schatz had to help him move him along in that very awkward moment.
Biden, incredibly, also spoke a great deal about himself, mentioning the deaths of his wife and son. He talked about a kitchen fire that he once had, saying that he understood what it meant to “lose a house” and claimed he nearly lost his wife, Corvette, and cat. It’s a terrible thing to bring up that subject to those who have already suffered.
People were not having it. Even before his arrival, people spoke out against him. Signs with “FJB”, “No Comment” and other phrases were held up by people protesting his arrival. This was in recognition of the response he gave when asked about his vacation at Rehoboth Beach. People reportedly told him to “Go Home” and gave him the finger, shouting “F**k You.”
Warning: Language.
There are now questions as to whether he fell asleep in the Lahaina Civic Center when people were talking about the disaster.

He appears to be falling asleep or zoning out with his head down. As a resident speaks about losing their home, he suddenly appears to lift his head and wake up.
As he leaves Hawaii, you can see that he is also out of it. His face has a blank expression.

He’s now back on vacation until Saturday. Five hours on Maui, and a whole week at Lake Tahoe. Priorities.
Even his vacation in Tom Steyer’s lakefront Lake Tahoe mansion is being investigated. Biden’s team insisted Biden paid “fair market value” to use the house, and that he had brought his extended family along, including Hunter, with him.
Nevada officials now investigate the rental of Steyer’s home.
Douglas County, Nev.’s local government requires that vacation homes be allowed. Multiple residents of this heavily Republican county have filed complaints.
Ernie Strehlow, the head of code enforcement for Douglas County Nevada, said in a statement reported first by The Nevada Globe: “This address has been the subject of several inquiries.” We are currently investigating the rental for any code violations in Douglas County Nevada.
Steyer could be subject to a massive fine.
The owners of properties that are advertised or operated as unpermitted vacation homes located in Douglas County, and that violate the Nevada Revised Statutes and Douglas County Code may face a civil fine of up to $20,000.
Joe Biden is not following the same rules as everyone else.
