Dianne Feinstein, a California Democrat Senator, tripped at home and fell on Tuesday. She was taken to hospital. TMZ broke the story.

The celebrity gossip website reported that “we do not know the severity of her injuries… we only know she was taken by ambulance to a hospital nearby.” “We were told that she had returned to her home on Tuesday night.”

The office of the senator released a press release late Tuesday night. It read: “Senator Feinstein went to hospital briefly yesterday afternoon as a precaution following a minor slip at her home. The scans came back clear, and she went home.

The age of those we sent to Washington, D.C., both from the Democratic and Republican parties, has focused much attention on Feinstein. She was hospitalized for several months in early 2014 after suffering from encephalitis, Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, and shingles.

She was pushed in a wheelchair when she returned to Capitol Hill. Her health looked deteriorating. An aide told her earlier this summer to vote on a committee matter rather than read a speech she had prepared.

Feinstein is a senator since 1992, and she has held elected positions since 1970. She declared she would not run for re-election in 2024. However, figures from both sides have called for her to resign before the election.

We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.
