Pennsylvania officials and the U.S. Marshals Service are now offering a $10,000 reward in search of an “extremely dangerous” inmate recently convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend in 2021. He escaped from the Chester County Prison on Thursday.
Danelo Cavalcante, 34, remains missing. The U.S. Marshals Service also stated that Cavalcante was “wanted” in Brazil for a murder.
“Danelo Cavalcante is considered an extremely dangerous man. We are asking for the public’s help in locating him,” Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan is warning.
She said he had been last seen walking along Wawaset Road in Pocopson Township around 9:40 am on Thursday wearing a gray T-shirt and white shoes. “Law Enforcement will do everything they can to find him.” “If you see this person, do not approach him.” “Instead, call 911 immediately. ”
A post on Facebook published by the West Chester Police Department Thursday afternoon revealed that several agencies were involved in searching for Cavalcante.
He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, and English fluently.
Search and rescue crews used K-9s, drones, and helicopters to aid in their search.
Howard Holland (Warden of Chester County Prison) refused to answer questions regarding how Cavalcante escaped from the maximum-security facility.
Holland said that the moment the officials realized that the suspect fled the prison, they searched the area immediately and raised the alarms. The prison was also closed.
Cavalcante was convicted on April 18, 2021, of murdering his ex-girlfriend Debora Brandao, in Schuylkill Township of Pennsylvania.
Brandao’s three-year-old and seven-year-old daughters were both present at the time of the murder.
Cavalcante fled to Virginia after the murder. Virginia State Police later apprehended him.
The authorities say he is wanted for a murder in Brazil that took place in 2017.
On Thursday, Captain Robert Bailey of the Pennsylvania State Police said that they would do everything in their power to bring this individual to justice.
Ryan stated that Cavalcante escaped and that the victims’ relatives had been informed.
